Breed Life UCLA Stem Cell and Kidney Transplantation Fund

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Breed Life UCLA Stem Cell and Kidney Transplantation Fund.

Kidney transplants have saved the lives of thousands of patients with end stage renal disease. In spite of its enormous benefit, transplantation nevertheless still has two major challenges: the risk of graft rejection and the need for lifelong immunosuppression.

The kidney transplant team at UCLA developed a program to combine kidney and hematopoietic stem cell transplant to create a state of immune tolerance in which the patient’s immune system will not reject the transplanted kidney and there will be no need for ongoing immunosuppression.
